저는 기독교인은 아닙니다.

기본적으로 무신앙이고,

상황에 따라서 잠깐 이신 저신에게 기도하는 그런 타입이죠.

 

예를 들자면, 일본에 살 때엔

'어떤 신사에서 기도하면 금전운이 따른다'길래 거기서 기도를 하다가도

우리나라에서는 길을 가다가 갑자기 소변이 엄청 급해졌을 때

주위를 둘러보니 교회가 하나 있으면 거기 화장실에서 해결을 하면서

'감사합니다 할렐루야' 하는 타입입니다.

산 속에서 길을 잃었다가 절을 발견해서 도움을 받게 되면 '나무아미타불 관세음보살' 하겠죠.

 

 

 

그런 제가 기독교를 믿는 크리스찬은 화날 때 스트레스를 어떻게 푸는지 어떻게 알겠습니까?

그들도 똑같은 인간인데 뭐 똑같겠죠.

코인 노래방 가는 사람도 있을 테고, 게임을 하는 사람도 있을 테고,

화도 잘 내고 욕을 시원스럽게 잘하는 사람도 있을 테고..

 

그런데 크리스찬들이 스트레스를 풀 수 있는 한 가지 방법을 제시하고 싶어서 글을 썼습니다.

바로, 이 밴드의 음악을 듣는 것입니다.

이런 밴드의 음악을 듣다가 목사님이나 전도사님에게 걸리면 등짝 스매싱을 맞을 것 같은 강렬한 사운드입니다.

하지만, 노르웨이 출신의 이 밴드의 장르는 무려..

익스트림 메탈・프로그레시브 메탈・크리스찬 메탈 입니다.

 

크리스찬 메탈..?

그건 뭐지...?

 

말했듯이 저도 기독교인은 아니라 잘은 모르지만,

메탈이라는 장르의 음악으로 하나님을 섬기는.. 그런 음악이라고 알고 있습니다.

 

제가 영어는 잘 모르지만,

위의 곡 A GIFT BEYOND HUMAN REACH도 가사를 구글로 번역해서 보면,

뭔가 신을 믿는 사람들이 메탈을 하고 있는 것 같습니다.

제 개인적으로 이 밴드에게 가장 흥미로웠던 점은..

기타리스트가 무려 올레 보루드 Ole Børud 였다는 점입니다.

 

OLE BORUD - SHAKIN' THE GROUND

제 블로그에 방문자가 없던 시절에 작성한 글인데..

이 음악을 들어보시면 알 겁니다.

올레 보루드가 활동했던 메탈 밴드 EXTOL의 장르와

솔로 앨범에서의 장르의 갭이 얼마나 큰지..

 

 

 

10대 후반부터 알던 어떤 누나가 한 명 있었는데..

그분은 평소의 성격도 순하고, 조용하고, 착하고, 교회도 다녔었습니다.

그런데, 음악도 좋아해서 밴드 공연하는 클럽을 자주 가곤 했는데,

공연 때 메탈 밴드가 나오면 사람이 180도 바뀌어서

미친 사람처럼 머리가 떨어져나갈 정도로 머리를 흔들어댔었죠..

그 누나랑 지금도 연락이 닿는다면 이 밴드를 알려주고 싶네요.
